MICRO-VASCULAR NETWORKS RECONSTRUCTION AND HEMODYNAMICS STUDIES

1.  2005-2007 - „Computational method for evaluation of hemodynamics and oxygen  transport in microvascular networks developed by tissue engineering”,

supported by Romanian Academy of Science, Contract No. 125/2.09.2005.

The main objective of this grant was to develop a software module capable to automatically create 3D computational model of a micro-vascular network from images obtain by microscopy. The grant was completed in collaboration with Biomedical Engineering Laboratory, University of Arizona, USA.

(1) a selection window from  the software were several points are picked on every blood vessel.

(2) the 3D model of the network on the full depth of the tissue sample, starting from the upper surface to the 100 microns on the bottom surface.  All dimensions from the pics are in microns.

(3) a representation of the same network, at different angle. (4) the 3D reconstructed model of the network, available in STL format for hemodynamic analysis using finite elements method.
